Is it OK to Put Orchids Outside in the Spring, Summer, or Fall?

Posted on March 27, 2021

Is it OK to put orchids outside in the summer? This subject has been up for discussion for years, and not a lot of people seem to know the answer. There are some plant species that do well when they are out of the season. The two main issues that come up with orchids are damage from direct sunlight and heat. Both of these issues can be solved by planting your orchids in a pot. But why would you want to do that?

Well, one reason to plant orchids outside is so that you have control over the conditions of the plant. Orchids are tropical plants and will do fine outside in most conditions. But orchids love the sun and warmth and will grow very well in pots. You can move the pots around easily, while the orchids will still get the sunshine they need.

Another reason to plant orchids outside is so that you can have a new plant every year. With orchids, you never know how long they will live, and having a new plant orchid planted each year can be really fun. There is nothing like seeing orchids blooming in your garden. You can keep them going with regular watering and fertilizer treatments.

When you are considering growing orchids outside, another good reason is that you can get the best orchids and the greatest price. You can find the top orchids at your local nursery for the lowest price and then you can take them home and plant them yourself. Orchids are wonderful plants to have if you have the space. They don’t take up a lot of room and yet they offer you orchid lovers a taste of the exotic.

It doesn’t matter whether you plant orchids indoors or orchids outdoors, you will always have the pleasure of looking at them. The best orchids come from Thailand, orchids grow there and then migrate all over the world. When you plant orchid plants in your garden, they are given as a gift by someone else. But when you plant orchids outdoors, you have brought them from another world. They bloom for a limited period of time, but once they die, it is forever.

When you plant orchids outdoors in the spring, summer, or fall, don’t expect any miracles. Just remember that they are not miracle plants because they do not always survive. However, that does not mean that they should not be taken care of. If they are taken care of, they will live for many years. So, when you plant orchids outside, remember that you have brought them from another world and you will be rewarded.
