Glass Plant Pots For Orchids Is Not Always the Best Choice

Posted on August 12, 2021

A clear glass plant pot is among the easiest, simplest, and affordable planters on the market. Ceramic pots are extremely popular since they’re made of a high quality glass that’s been fired to extreme high temperatures to make them sparkle. In addition to being an attractive addition to your garden or flower bed, ceramic pots offer excellent drainage and are extremely easy to clean. But the best reason to purchase a clear glass plant pot is that it will save you money on water and fertilizer.

Clear planters also make it easier to tell when a plant needs water or fertilizer. Since orchids are tropical plants, water tends to dry out their roots. However, you can tell if your orchid plant pots need more water or fertilizer by looking at the bottom of the pot. If there is more than one white spot, this indicates that the plant will need more water than usual.

Most orchid plants prefer a well drained soil. If your orchid plants are experiencing issues with drainage, then you should add a slow release fertilizer every couple of weeks during the growing season. Orchids do not like to be over crowded. The easiest way to avoid overcrowding is to plant orchids in tightly packed clumps. However, you should not plant too close together as the roots may compete with each other for nutrients.

It is best to mulch your orchids as well. There are several mulching materials available including wood chips, newspaper, pine bark, and straw. Some people choose to use steel wool to lightly cover the top of their pots. However, you can always use peat or coconut coir. Both of these substances make excellent mulching materials.

Glass square plant pots for orchids can also be used when growing flowers indoors. Most flower pots are rectangular, but square planter pots are becoming more popular. These pots make great flower pots. They are not only aesthetically appealing, but they keep the plant healthy.

Some orchids prefer clay or plastic plant pots for orchids. But, I find that most species of orchid prefer rocks, stones or wooden planter boxes. They also prefer a humidity controlled environment. You should also keep in mind that if you are going to use plastic pots for orchids indoors, then you should keep them out of direct sunlight. Orchids can sometimes become damaged by the high temperatures of direct sunlight.

You can choose from many different types of orchid pots. You can choose from square planters, round planters, wall planters and so on. There are even orchid pot options that are gender specific. These orchid flower pots can be used to grow exotic species of orchids only. You can also find orchid pots that are not gender specific and this would be a very nice option if you have two or three orchid species that are not exactly alike.

In general, orchids need their pots to be kept relatively warm, at least 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The soil mixture that you use needs to be water resistant and contain a suitable amount of nutrients for the orchid plant. You will find that you need to empty your orchid flower pots quite often as they do not have to remain indoors. Your garden can become a veritable garden of colorful orchids if you take the time to care for them appropriately.

There are other options than glass or plastic plant pots. One of these options is the terracotta plant pot. You can find these in either square or rectangular shapes. They do not absorb or retain water well like the glass or plastic flower pots and therefore they tend to dry out more quickly.

If you are going to use plastic plant pots for orchids you should look at purchasing ones with drainage holes. These drainage holes will allow excess water to drain away from the roots. This is very important as the roots of your orchid plant can rot easily if there is too much water retained in the planter. The other option is to use square planter. Square planters will allow you to place your plant in any orientation that you desire.

Another advantage that you will get from square plastic planters is that they are easier to clean up when things do go wrong. This can be a problem with the plastic flower planters that can easily break down into pieces after being used. The square plastic planters are easier to clean up as they do not get splattered or drenched in water like the other types do. They are also a little bit cheaper than the other planter choices.
